Lost a ring on a beach in Albania?

The coast from Velipojë down to Ksamil, plus Lake Ohrid at Pogradec, the lakeside at Shiroka and the park lake in Tirana.

Plenty of what goes missing in Albania can still be looked for. What decides it is the ground it fell onto, whether round stones, sand, a park path or deep water off a bay, and your map pin tells us which.

Ring Seekers is a lost ring and jewellery recovery service that works with experienced local metal detectorists to search for a ring, wedding band, watch, keys or phone lost in Albania. Tell us what happened and where. We choose an experienced detectorist who knows the place, brief them with your map and photos, and tell you honestly if the odds are poor.

Durrës, Vlorë, Ksamil, Shëngjin and the Riviera each have a fuller page, listed below. Tale, Spille, Divjakë, the coves between Borsh and Sarandë, Pogradec, Tirana and Shiroka belong here.

Albania lost ring and jewellery recovery

Sand on the Adriatic, stones and deep coves on the Ionian

On the Adriatic side, the beaches this page adds are sand. Tale, south of Lezhë near the mouth of the Mat, is a wide beach of fine grey sand. Spille, south of Golem, is a long beach with a considerable width of sand.

Down on the Ionian coast, stone takes over at several of the beaches. Palasë, at the entrance to the Riviera, is small white stones, Borsh is mostly gravel and round stones, and Krorëza has white stones too. Kakome, north of Sarandë, is a hidden bay among mountains and rock, with deep sea.

Working with us, start to finish

One WhatsApp number, one person answering it

The person who reads your first message sets up the search and passes on the result, so nothing you said on day one gets lost on the way.

Your photos go straight to the searcher

Your pin and photos go to the detectorist unedited. Among small stony bays, the shape of the rocks in your pictures can be what tells two coves apart.

Honest about deep water

If the story ends with the item slipping into the deep sea off a bay like Kakome, the chances are poor, and you hear that before anything is booked.

Inland counts too

A path round the lake in Tirana's Grand Park or the promenade at Shiroka is ground a detectorist can walk, so tell us about it the same way as a beach.

The cost, in writing, before anything is fixed

We explain the costs before any search is booked, in the same chat, so you have them written down while you decide.

Albania by coast and by lake

The first five cards sit over the area pages above, most of them adding a beach of their own. The rest, from Divjakë to Shiroka, have no other page.

North to south along the sea, then Tirana and Shiroka

Shëngjin and Velipojë

Velipojë beach runs for about 14 kilometres, so a map pin carries more weight there than any landmark. Tale is covered here; the rest of this shore, Kune and Vain beaches included, is on the Shëngjin and Velipojë page.

Durrës, Golem and Lalëz Bay

Spille is covered on this page. For the city beach at Durrës, Currila, Golem, Rrushkull or Lalëz Bay, open the Durrës, Golem and Lalëz Bay page.

Vlorë, Orikum and Radhimë

Orikum's beaches are long and quiet, so the spot you picked on them counts for more than the name. The Vlorë, Orikum and Radhimë page has the city beaches, Radhimë's coves, Zvërnec and the boat trips to Sazan and Karaburun.

Albanian Riviera

Borsh, south of Himarë, runs for about 7 kilometres, so the stretch you sat on matters there more than the name. Plazhi i Akuariumit, near Jalë, is a small beach of its own. Palasë, Dhërmi, Himarë and the other bays are on the Albanian Riviera page.

Ksamil and Sarandë

Sarandë municipality takes in bays north of the town too. Kakome lies near the village of Nivicë-Bubar, and Krorëza, between Shpellë-Lukovë and Kakome, is reached mainly by boat or along coastal paths. Ksamil, the shore of Lake Butrint and the town itself are on the Ksamil and Sarandë page.

Lukovë, Bunec and Shën Vasil

Between Borsh and Sarandë the coast passes Bunec and Lukovë. Lukovë's beaches are small and quiet, and the village streets lead down to them and to the caves nearby. Bunec is a bay between Lukovë and Piqeras, known for the bridge over its river. Shën Vasil can be reached by road or by boat.

Divjakë beach

Divjakë beach, near the Karavasta lagoon, is fine sand and calm, clean water with a coastal pine forest along its length. Paths for walking and cycling run through the pines, so shade and sand are only minutes apart. Say whether you were under the trees or out on the sand.

Pogradec and Tushemisht, on Lake Ohrid

Pogradec sits on Lake Ohrid, where people swim, take boats out and fish. Tushemisht, a few kilometres away, has a long beach that fills with summer visitors and walks along the lake shore. At Drilon, beside Tushemisht, clear spring water runs past footpaths and wooden bridges down into the lake.

Tirana

The artificial lake lies in the centre of the capital, inside the Grand Park, with walkways, sports areas and cafés around it, and people go there to walk, run and cycle. Mark the path, the patch of grass or the café you stopped at on the map.

Shiroka and Zogaj, on Lake Shkodër

Shiroka is the lakeside village closest to Shkodër, known for its promenade along the water and its fish restaurants. Zogaj lies a few kilometres farther on, its houses built on the slope that runs down to the lake.

Four messages that set up a search

No forms and no calls needed, just WhatsApp.

1

What went, and in which village or bay

On WhatsApp, say what the item is, which village or beach you were at, and whether the day involved a swim, a boat or a walk.

2

Mark the spot, add pictures

Drop a pin on the patch of beach or path. Then a photo of the item, and any holiday picture with that spot in the background.

3

A searcher who can get there

Someone with a metal detector who can get to that stony cove, sandy beach or lakeside promenade is found and handed everything you sent.

4

You say yes, we report back

You give the go-ahead for the search. Afterwards we pass on the detectorist's account: which ground was walked, and what, if anything, came up.

Questions about Albania

An engagement ring went somewhere on the sand at Tale. What would you ask first?

Which part of the beach was yours. Tale lies south of Lezhë, near the mouth of the Mat, and it is one of the wider beaches in the region, so how far you sat from the water matters as much as where along it. Pin the spot where you lay, send any photo taken from there, and tell us whether the ring was still on when you went into the sea.

Start from the last moment you remember it on your wrist. Krorëza is a beach of white stones and clear blue water, reached mainly by boat, so the day splits into the boat, the stones and any swim. Tell us which of those you are sure of and the harbour you left from. If it went over the side on the crossing, that is a long shot, and you would hear that from us first.

Away from the coast is fine. The lake sits inside the Grand Park in the middle of the capital, and a path edge or a stretch of grass can be searched as well as sand. Give us your starting point and the direction you ran, pin anywhere you stopped, and send a photo of the keys with their fob.

It is. Kakome is a small bay tucked in among mountains and rock near Nivicë-Bubar, north of Sarandë, and the sea off it is deep, so the first question is whether the earring came out on the shore or while you swam. Tell us which, pin where you sat, and send a photo of the other earring from the pair.

Only the part you used. At Shiroka the promenade runs beside the water with the fish restaurants along it, so one evening can cover both. Tell us where you parked, where you ate and which stretch of the promenade you walked, and put each one on the map. A photo from that evening with the bracelet on your wrist is worth sending too.

Yes, and it starts with where you came onto the beach. Spille lies in the Gosë and Kryevidh areas south of Golem and runs for about 15.5 km, with a considerable width of sand. Give us the place you stayed or parked at and how far you walked along the sand, then drop a pin.

Both, in the order you visited them. Bunec is easy to pick out by the bridge over its river, and Lukovë's own beaches are small and reached down the village streets. Say where you last remember wearing the necklace and send a photo of it.
