Lost a ring in the UAE?
Calm, shallow Gulf beaches in Ras Al Khaimah, and beyond the Hajar Mountains, the Gulf of Oman shore.
A day trip in the UAE can take in more than one emirate before dinner, so the first job with a lost ring is working out which beach it belongs to. After that, the chances rest on how clearly you can mark the spot, on the sand or in the water.
Ring Seekers is a lost ring and jewellery recovery service that works with experienced local metal detectorists to search for a ring, wedding band, watch, keys or phone lost in the UAE. Tell us what happened and where. We choose an experienced detectorist who knows the beach, brief them with your map and photos, and tell you honestly if the odds are poor.
The Arabian Gulf on one shore, the Gulf of Oman on the other
Most of the UAE looks out over the Arabian Gulf. In Ras Al Khaimah, Flamingo Beach has warm, shallow water with no currents to speak of.
Fujairah lies on the eastern side of the country along the Gulf of Oman, and Sharjah has a stretch of that coast too, at Khor Fakkan. Khor Fakkan curves round a bay lined with palm trees, and Dibba has hidden coves and calm blue water.
Before anyone drives out to the beach
A name you will get to know
Your WhatsApp chat stays with one of us from the opening message to the report after the search, and that same person writes the detectorist's brief.
Built from your own map pin
Whether the beach is on Al Marjan Island or at Khor Fakkan, the brief a detectorist works from is built out of your map pin and the photos you took of the place and the item.
Open water off Dibba
A ring that slipped over the side of a dhow in open water off Dibba is a long shot, and you would hear that from us first.
The drive counts as part of the day
If your day took in more than one emirate, list the stops in order and say where you last saw the item for certain.
Costs before commitment
We explain the costs before any search is booked, and you reply when you are ready.

Ras Al Khaimah, Umm Al Quwain and the Gulf of Oman shore
Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman and Abu Dhabi each have a page of their own, linked above, and the first two cards below only open the door to them. Ras Al Khaimah, Umm Al Quwain and the east coast are written up here.
From the Gulf coast over to the east
Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman beaches
Al Heera Beach in Sharjah stretches 3.5 kilometres along the Arabian Gulf, so the part of it you sat on matters as much as its name. It, Dubai's beaches and the rest of the Sharjah and Ajman shore, the Al Zorah mangroves included, are on the Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman beaches page.
Abu Dhabi
Mirfa Beach, in the Al Dhafra area of Abu Dhabi, has turquoise water and a small town nearby. The city, Saadiyat, Yas and the mangrove parks are on the Abu Dhabi page.
Al Marjan Island
Al Marjan Island in Ras Al Khaimah is four man-made islands reaching out into the Arabian Gulf with hotels, resorts and sandy beaches. Its palm-lined corniche has the Gulf on both sides, and people run, cycle or ride hired e-scooters along it.
Flamingo Beach, Al Hamra and the city corniche
Flamingo Beach is a public beach between Ras Al Khaimah city and Al Hamra Village, tucked behind towering dunes, with walkways to its seating areas, a floodlit volleyball court, and paddle boards and kayaks for hire. Al Hamra Waterfront, on the Al Hamra Lagoon, has a marina and water sports, and in the city Corniche Al Qawasim, a wide walkway beside a stretch of mangroves, comes alive at night.
Al Rams Beach and Saraya Island
On the northern shores of Ras Al Khaimah, Al Rams Beach and Saraya Island face turquoise water scattered with sand bars and islands, with views of the Hajar Mountains. People kayak and paddleboard here, and drive out onto the sand in four-wheel drives.
Umm Al Quwain
Umm Al Quwain lies between Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah, and its city is built on a narrow peninsula called Khor Al Bidiyah, with many islands off the coast to the east.
Khor Fakkan and Al Luluyah Beach
Khor Fakkan is on Sharjah's east coast, about halfway between Dibba and Fujairah. Its crescent-shaped beach is lined with palm trees, with swing sets and football goalposts on the sand. Al Luluyah Beach, in the same town, is a quiet public beach with a mountain backdrop and a camping site facing the sunrise.
Kalba Beach Corniche
Kalba, south of Fujairah city, is the southernmost town on Sharjah's east coast. Its corniche runs along a long sandy beach with clear turquoise water, with a jogging track and shaded benches facing the sea, so name the bench or the stretch you were near.
Al Aqah Beach, Fujairah
Al Aqah Beach is on Fujairah's stretch of the Gulf of Oman, with hotels and resorts along it whose private beaches take visitors on a day pass. Its coral reef draws divers and snorkellers, and Snoopy Island sits off the beach.
Dibba
Dibba Al Fujairah draws hikers, campers and divers to its peaks, hidden coves and calm blue water, and dhows, the traditional wooden boats, take people out fishing and sailing for the day or overnight.

Step by step, from the chat to the beach
What happens between telling us about the loss and hearing how the search went.
Start with the emirate
Which emirate, which beach, what is missing and about what time: that is enough to start.
Mark the spot on a map
Put a pin on the map at your best guess, and send pictures of that patch of beach and of the item itself.
A detectorist on the road
Whether it is Ras Al Khaimah or the Fujairah side, we line up a metal detectorist who can get there and hand over your pin and pictures as the brief.
Booked only when you say so
Nothing is booked until you give the word. After the search you get a plain account of the ground covered and what was found.
Questions about the UAE
My wedding ring flew off during a game of beach volleyball at Flamingo Beach. How do I describe where we were?
The court and the walkway you used are the two best markers. Flamingo Beach has a floodlit volleyball court and a network of walkways leading to the seating areas, so describe the walkway you came in on and where you left your bags. If you went into the shallow water after the game, pin that spot too and send a photo of the ring.
On an e-scooter ride along the Al Marjan Island corniche, a watch went missing. Where along it should we start?
Where you stopped matters more than the route. The corniche has shaded benches along it, so mark where you picked up the scooter, each bench you sat on and where you left it. Say which of the four islands your hotel is on, and send a photo of the watch.
Is a phone that slipped out of a kayak off Al Rams Beach worth telling you about?
Yes. The water off Al Rams Beach is shallow and calm, with sand bars and islands, so name the nearest one and say how the mountains looked from where you sat.
Does the football goal we played near on Khor Fakkan Beach help place a lost bracelet?
Very much so. The beach is a 3-kilometre crescent, so a fixed point on the sand narrows the search a lot. Tell us which goalposts, what else was close by, such as the swings or the boat and jet ski huts near the centre of the corniche, and send a photo of the bracelet.
We camped at Al Luluyah Beach for the sunrise, and by morning the engagement ring had gone. Tent or sea?
Check the tent and the car first. Al Luluyah is a quiet public beach in Khor Fakkan with a camping site, and people swim and surf there too. Pin your pitch and the place you went into the water, and send a close photo of the ring.
Snorkelling at Al Aqah, I lost my metal-framed sunglasses while wading back in. Could they be close to the beach?
If you were already standing when they came off, yes. Al Aqah is on Fujairah's Gulf of Oman shore, with Snoopy Island offshore as a handy marker. Pin the point where you came out of the water, say whether Snoopy Island was straight ahead or off to one side, and send a photo of the same model.
Our hire car keys fell as we climbed off a dhow at Dibba. What should we send?
Dhows take people out from Dibba Al Fujairah fishing and sailing, for the day or overnight. Pin where you came ashore, and where you boarded if that was elsewhere. Say whether the keys fell into the water beside the dhow or onto the sand as you jumped down, and send a photo of the key and fob.
Umm Al Quwain is where the Oura ring vanished. Does it matter which side of the peninsula we were on?
It does. The city is built on a narrow peninsula called Khor Al Bidiyah, so which side of it you were on is the first thing to tell us, then whether you were on land or out sailing. Mention the ring's colour and size.
