Lost a ring or bracelet in Jamaica?

Tell us the beach and where your towel was, and the rest of the planning follows from that.

Being back on the ship, or already home, does not stop a search for a bracelet, ring or phone left on a Jamaican beach. A detectorist needs the beach you were on and whether the piece went on the sand, in the shallows or out over the reef, and you are the one who knows both.

Ring Seekers is a lost ring and jewelry recovery service that works with experienced local metal detectorists to search for a ring, wedding band, watch, keys or phone lost in Jamaica. Tell us what happened and where. We choose an experienced detectorist who knows the beach, brief them with your map and photos, and tell you honestly if the odds are poor.

Jamaica lost ring and jewelry recovery

Reef, white sand, cliffs and surf, depending on the coast

Negril, the westernmost town, has two different shores: the powdery white sand of Seven Mile Beach, and the cliffs of the West End, where people jump from the rocks into the sea. In Montego Bay, Doctor's Cave Beach is part of a marine park with coral reef, and at Runaway Bay the beaches are protected by a large coral reef.

Near Port Antonio, a freshwater stream runs into the sea at Frenchman's Cove, and Boston Bay is a surfing beach. On the south coast, Treasure Beach has coral-colored and sometimes black sand, rocky shores and, in places, strong undercurrents.

Who you deal with, and what we pass on

No handing you around

The WhatsApp chat you open with us is the only one you need, whether the ship is still in port or you are back home.

Nothing lost in the retelling

Your map pin, photos and account of the day reach the detectorist as you sent them, not as our summary.

Bad news early

Some losses here, such as a phone over the West End cliffs, are poor bets. You hear that from us before anything is booked.

Questions coming your way

Which beach, roughly what time, where your towel or sunbed was, and whether you went into the sea after you last saw it.

Told what it costs

We explain the costs before any search is booked.

Where on the island it happened

Nine cards take the main visitor coasts one at a time, starting in Montego Bay, going to Negril, then along the north coast to Portland and round to Treasure Beach on the south coast.

Nine stretches of Jamaican coast

Doctor's Cave Beach, Montego Bay

Doctor's Cave Beach sits in the middle of the Hip Strip on Gloucester Avenue, a short drive from the cruise pier. The beach is part of the Montego Bay Marine Park, and Doctor's Cave Reef is one of the park's snorkeling spots. Snorkel gear can be rented at the beach, so if you had a mask on at any point, the reef comes into the search.

Dead End Beach and the rest of the Hip Strip

The coast lies just behind the restaurants, bars and shops on Gloucester Avenue, with sandy beaches along the way. Dead End Beach is the one where people watch flights come down into Sangster International Airport. If you walked from one beach to another, mention the way between.

Negril Seven Mile Beach and Long Bay

Seven Mile Beach is Negril's long stretch of powdery white sand, lined with resorts, restaurants and beach bars, and Long Bay Beach Park lies along the same shore. Because it is one long beach, tell us which end of Negril you were nearer and what stood behind you on the shore.

Bloody Bay, Negril

Bloody Bay has calm, clear water over colorful coral reefs, and people come to dive, snorkel and go out on catamaran cruises. If you were on a boat that day, list the stops it made.

Negril West End

The West End is the cliff side of Negril, away from the busy beaches, with the Negril Lighthouse at the westernmost tip of the island. Visitors gather at the cliff edge to watch the sunset and the jumpers. Say whether something went from the cliff top or during a swim below it.

Runaway Bay and Puerto Seco Beach, St Ann

Runaway Bay lies between Ocho Rios and Montego Bay, and its beaches are protected by a large coral reef. Puerto Seco Beach, at Discovery Bay, has turquoise water, paddleboards and a floating obstacle course. Tell us whether you were on the obstacle course, a paddleboard or swimming. At Runaway Bay, mention whether you went as far as the reef.

Dunn's River Falls and Ocho Rios

Dunn's River Falls, close to the Ocho Rios cruise port, empties directly into the sea. People climb its terraces, often in a human chain, then relax on the beach or go snorkeling and kayaking. Mahogany Beach is another Ocho Rios beach, where boats take people out into the bay.

Frenchman's Cove, San San and Boston Bay, Portland

At Frenchman's Cove, near Port Antonio, people swim where a cool freshwater stream meets the warm Caribbean. From San San Beach people kayak or snorkel across to Monkey Island. Boston Bay Beach is a surfing beach, where people also take surf lessons.

Treasure Beach, south coast

Treasure Beach is a string of bays and coves, among them Billy's Bay, Calabash Bay, Great Bay and Frenchman's Bay, with coral-colored and sometimes black sand and rocky shores between. Fishermen bring their canoes in at Calabash Bay. Some stretches have strong undercurrents, and Fisherman's Beach and Old Wharf Beach are often the choice for a swim.

Getting a search under way in Jamaica

You can start from the ship, the hotel or your own sofa.

1

Tell us about the day

Write to us on WhatsApp with the piece, the beach or town, and whether you were on the sand, in the water or on a boat when you last had it.

2

Pin it on the map

A map pin puts us on the right beach. Photos you took there that day, and a picture of the missing piece, fill in the rest.

3

Matching your beach to a detectorist

Negril is at the western end of Jamaica and Port Antonio on its northeast bend. We find a detectorist who can get to your beach and hand on everything you sent.

4

An honest account

The search is arranged and carried out, and afterward we tell you plainly how it went.

Questions about Jamaica

The ship has already left Montego Bay. Can a bracelet lost at Doctor's Cave Beach still be looked for?

Yes. The detectorist works from your pin and photos, not from you standing on the beach. Doctor's Cave is in the middle of the Hip Strip, with shops and bars along Gloucester Avenue behind it, so name what was behind your spot and send a photo if you took one.

It does, because the walk becomes part of the search. Name the resort or bar you set off from and the one where you turned back, and say whether you went into the sea on the way.

Sometimes. People jump from these cliffs into the sea, so the phone went into open water, not onto sand. Mark where you stood on the cliff and, if you saw it, where it hit the water. If the water there turns out too deep, it is a long shot, and you would hear that from us first.

The falls come down in a series of terraces and empty straight into the sea, and the park has a beach where people relax after the climb. Tell us roughly how far up you were when you noticed, whether you felt it go, and whether you went down to the beach or into the sea afterward.

Yes. A freshwater stream runs into the sea at Frenchman's Cove, and the cool river water and the warm sea are two different places to search. Say which one you were in, and pin where you left your things on the sand.

Usually, yes. Boston Bay is a surfing beach, and waves make a search harder than a calm bay does. Tell us where the lesson started on the sand, how far out you paddled, and whether the key could have dropped on the beach before or after.

Treasure Beach is a string of separate bays and coves with rocky shore between them, so split the day into stops. Pin each bay where you sat or swam, with a rough time for each, and tell us if you walked over the rocks from one to the other.
