Lost a wedding ring on honeymoon in Fiji?
Fiji has 333 islands, so the first thing to settle is which one it was.
A ring lost in Fiji can be looked for when the loss can be tied to one island and one stretch of sand, reef or boat landing. What decides it is how sure you are of that place, and whether it went on land, in water you could stand in, or out in deep water between the islands.
Ring Seekers is a lost ring and jewellery recovery service that works with experienced local metal detectorists to search for a ring, wedding band, watch, keys or phone lost in Fiji. Tell us what happened and where. We choose an experienced detectorist who knows the beach, brief them with your map and photos, and tell you honestly if the odds are poor.
Nadi and the Mamanucas, the Coral Coast, the Yasawas and the outer islands each have their own page, linked below, while Suva, Nasilai Beach and a few other places are written up here.
Calm lagoons in the west, strong currents in the north, black sand in the east
Off Nadi, the Mamanuca Islands sit in a calm, clear lagoon behind an extensive barrier reef, and the southern Mamanucas are known for their surf breaks out on the reef. The Yasawas, farther north-west, are more rugged volcanic islands. Along the south of Viti Levu, the Coral Coast is fringed by reef, with coral starting just off many of its beaches.
Farther out, strong currents run through the Somosomo Strait between Taveuni and Vanua Levu, and Kadavu in the far south is wrapped by the Great Astrolabe Reef. On the east coast of Viti Levu, near Nausori, Nasilai Beach is black sand with gentle, shallow water.
Working with us from any island
A single person across the islands
Whether the loss was on Denarau or on Kadavu, the same person answers your WhatsApp messages, from the first question to the final report.
The details a search needs
A pin on the spot, a photo of the item or its twin, and the order of the day. With those, a detectorist can plan the search before setting foot on the beach.
When the odds are poor
A loss out on a reef break or in a strong current, rather than on a beach or in the shallows, is a long shot, and you would hear that from us first.
The cost question
We explain the costs before any search is booked, and you can take as long as you like to think about them.
Our Ring Finder Service Locations in Fiji
Four island regions, then Suva and the east coast
Each island region below links to a page of its own. Suva, the east coast of Viti Levu and two trips from Suva and Pacific Harbour have no page like that, which is why they are written up in full here.

Wailoaloa Beach, Denarau Island and Port Denarau, Vuda, and the Mamanuca islands from Beachcomber and Malolo Lailai to Tavarua and Namotu.
Coral Coast and Pacific Harbour

Yasawa Islands
The Blue Lagoon and Nacula, Drawaqa and the manta channel, Kuata, and Waya at the southern end of the chain.
Vanua Levu, Taveuni, Kadavu and the Suncoast
Savusavu and its bay, Taveuni from Matei along the Somosomo Strait, Kadavu and Vunisea, and Rakiraki, Volivoli and Nananu-i-Ra on the Suncoast.
Suva
Suva is Fiji's multicultural capital. Its lively food market near the main wharf is the heart of the city, with the Suva Handicraft Centre a short walk away. For a loss in town, list the stalls and shops you visited in order, and pin where you parked or got off the bus.
Colo-i-Suva Forest Park
A short drive out of the city centre, Colo-i-Suva is rainforest laced with walking trails and picnic spots, and a freshwater creek feeds the Upper and Lower swimming holes. Tell us which trail you walked, where you stopped to eat, and at which swimming hole you went in.
Nasilai Beach
In the Tailevu region near Nausori, Nasilai is a black sand beach on the east coast of Viti Levu, with gentle, shallow water and a shore lined with coconut trees. People come to fish, beachcomb and enjoy the quiet. Pin where you sat and say whether you waded out.
Moon Reef and the Navua River
Moon Reef is a crescent-shaped reef off the coast of Tailevu, where a pod of spinner dolphins spends most mornings in the sheltered lagoon, and boat trips go out to watch them. From Pacific Harbour, tubing trips float down the Navua River past waterfalls and rainforest, with the current doing most of the work. On a river or a boat trip, give us the operator and the places you stopped.

How a Fiji search comes together
You can stop at any stage.
Say what happened
On WhatsApp, tell us what is missing and which island you were on. The exact beach can come later.
Mark the spot for us
A map pin where it happened, a picture looking out from that spot, and one of the item, or of its partner if it was one of a pair.
Finding someone to reach the island
Fiji is spread out, so we first check which metal detectorist can actually get to that island, then pass on everything you sent.
Search day, and what you hear after
With your go-ahead, the detectorist searches. You then get a plain account of the ground they covered and of anything they found.
Questions about Fiji
We split our honeymoon between the Mamanucas and Taveuni, and the wedding band came off somewhere along the way.
Write the trip out day by day: the island, the beach, and every boat and flight in between. Then find the last picture in which the band is visible, and the moment you first noticed it gone. The stretch between those two points is where we start, and it may well point to one island rather than both.
A bracelet came off while we walked round the market and the handicraft centre in Suva.
The food market near the main wharf and the Suva Handicraft Centre are a short walk apart, so the streets between them count as well. Go back to the stalls you bought from and ask, then send us the order of your visit and a photo of the bracelet, so the ground between can be gone over.
My ring slipped off when I jumped into the Lower swimming hole at Colo-i-Suva.
The swimming holes are fed by a freshwater creek, so tell us where you jumped from, where you climbed out, and whether the water was clear enough to see the bottom. If you picnicked or changed on the bank first, pin that spot too, as the ring may have come off before the jump.
Somewhere on the black sand of Nasilai Beach, I lost an earring.
Nasilai's water is gentle and shallow, so say whether you or the children were in it. Pin where you sat, the stretch you walked, and where you went in. The coconut trees along the shore make useful landmarks, so a photo with one of them behind you helps us line up the spot.
Watching the dolphins at Moon Reef, I leaned over and my sunglasses dropped into the lagoon.
The dolphins spend most mornings in the sheltered lagoon of Moon Reef, so ask the operator whether the boat was inside the lagoon when it happened and where it stopped. Tell us whether the frames are metal, and say whether it happened while the boat was moving or at rest.
Tubing down the Navua River, I lost my watch somewhere along the way.
What should we do before we leave the island where it happened?
Tell your resort or the boat crew, in case it turns up. Pin the spot on your phone's map while you are standing on it, and take photos from there in two directions. Write down the time, what you were doing and who was with you. All of that can travel with you, and none of it depends on staying.

One message, from any island in Fiji
The name of the island and the item is enough for a first WhatsApp message. If you are still there, add a map pin before you leave.
