Kalardovo is a natural sandy beach near Tivat airport, with healing mud on the beach itself.
A watch lost at Kalardovo, in the healing mud on the beach or in the sea beside it, is within reach of a detectorist. What decides it is how exactly you can say where you were in the mud and where you went into the water.

Three spots to mark at Kalardovo
Three places matter at Kalardovo: the mud, your towel and the point where you went into the sea. If you are still on the beach, stand at each one in turn and save it on your phone's map, with a picture that shows the nearest sunbed. If you have already left, work out when you went into the mud and when you first noticed the watch was gone, and send us both times.
Herceg Novi sits at the entrance to the bay and Kotor at its far end, with Perast on the way from Kotor. Tivat has the airport close by, Luštica lies between the bay and the Trašte bay, and Bigova looks out over the open sea.

Kalardovo, Župa and the airport side of Tivat
Kalardovo is a natural sandy beach near Tivat airport, with sunbeds on part of it and healing mud on the beach. On the road out of town towards the airport is the sandy beach at Mrčevac Kukoljina. Župa lies in a cove just before you enter Tivat from the south, a small sandy beach with thick pine forest beside it. Across Krtole Bay from the town centre, the Tivat salt pans are a wetland with walking and cycling trails, benches and two towers for watching birds.
The Pine, Belane, Seljanovo and Porto Montenegro
The Pine is the town promenade, lined with café terraces, and it runs on into the promenade of Porto Montenegro, the waterfront quarter with its marina and apartments right on the shore. Belane, a pebble beach, sits next to the small Kalimanj harbour at the start of the promenade, and the town beach, partly concrete and partly sand, is close to the Pine. Seljanovo, a pebble beach with a lighthouse on it, is beside Porto Montenegro and within walking distance of town.
The Kotor waterfront and the road to Perast
The Kotor marina lies right in front of the Old Town walls, and cruise ships either moor at the port or lie at anchor in the bay. Dobrota, Prčanj and Markov Rt have their own beaches, and Markov Rt is a long pebble beach with a gradual entry into the water and a boat dock. On the way to Perast, a long gravel beach runs past Bajo Pivljanin's Tower, where the beach called Bajova kula is pebbly with a pier. On the edge of Perast there is a concrete swimming area with sunbeds and a café.
Herceg Novi and Igalo
Herceg Novi stands at the entrance to the bay, and its seafront promenade, Pet Danica, has a swimming area on it. Igalo is the small summer resort of Herceg Novi, known for the healing sea mud of Blatna plaža, the Mud Beach. There are sunbeds and umbrellas on the beach, and cafés and restaurants along the promenade.
Luštica, from Plavi horizonti round to Žanjice
On the Tivat side of Luštica, Plavi horizonti is a sandy beach in the Pržna cove, Oblatno is a small beach of fine gravel, and Pecka, also called Velja Špilja, is a sandy beach tucked into the Trašte cove. Luštica Bay lies on the Trašte bay beside the village of Radovići, and its marina beach is partly public, with people out on paddleboards and kayaks. From Herceg Novi, excursion boats run to the pebble beach at Žanjice, and the fishing village of Rose has a beach of concrete and pebbles.
Bigova and Trsteno
Bigova is a small fishing village in Donji Grbalj, set deep into its cove. Stone houses stand along the shore, small boats lie in the clear water in front of them, and there is an old jetty. The beach was once the fishing port. Along the same coast, Trsteno is a short beach of fine sand over a sandy bottom, with clear water.

Days on the water
Plenty of days here are spent on boats. Say whether the loss happened at a quay, off a beach where the boat stopped, or while the boat was moving, because each of those is handled differently.

The ground changes from one beach to the next around the bay.
From the airport sand to the Perast gravel
Kalardovo, Župa, Mrčevac Kukoljina, Plavi horizonti and Pecka are sandy. Belane, Seljanovo, Žanjice and Bajova kula are pebbles, Opatovo is mostly pebbles, and the shore towards Perast from Orahovac is gravel. The Tivat town beach mixes concrete and sand, and at Bjelila you swim from rock or a concrete jetty.
Mud on the beach
Kalardovo and Blatna plaža in Igalo both have healing mud. If you had been in it, say whereabouts on the beach it was and whether you went into the sea afterwards.
Questions about the Bay of Kotor
A bracelet came off at Seljanovo, somewhere near the lighthouse.
Seljanovo is a pebble beach about 250 m long beside Porto Montenegro, with a lighthouse on it. On a beach that length, saying which side of the lighthouse you were on cuts the ground down a good deal. Count roughly how many paces lay between it and your towel, and say whether you had been swimming.
Our cruise ship leaves Kotor this evening, and a necklace is gone from somewhere along the waterfront.
Before you board, walk back slowly along the waterfront the way you came, looking down as you go. Note whether your ship was moored at the quay or lying at anchor in the bay, since the port has both, and send us that with a pin for the last place you remember wearing it.
Is it worth writing about a phone that slipped between the boat and the quay at Perast?
Yes. Boat trips from Kotor include Perast, so a description of the boat and the stretch of quay it tied up to is the place to begin. Say whether the phone went in as you stepped off or as you climbed back aboard. A photo from the quay showing the spot lets the detectorist stand in the same place.
An earring came out while we were walking the Pet Danica promenade in Herceg Novi.
Pet Danica is the seafront promenade of Herceg Novi, and there is a swimming area on it, so the first question is whether you went into the water there or stayed on the walkway. Mark the stretch you covered on a map, and say whether it was a stud or a hoop and what metal it is.

Žanjice is a pebble beach on Luštica, and excursion boats run to it from Herceg Novi. On pebbles, the place where your towels lay is the part to pin with care. Say too whether you swam off the beach or went on to the Blue Cave nearby. A chain lost while swimming inside the cave is a long shot, and you would hear that from us first.
Where would a search start for an Oura ring lost swimming off Plavi horizonti?
Plavi horizonti is a sandy beach in the Pržna cove on Luštica, and the way into the sea is smooth and covered in fine sand. A search there starts from the point where you walked in. Pin that, say whether you swam along the beach or straight out, and whether you could still touch the bottom when the ring went.
The keys to our apartment went into the water off the Pine promenade in Tivat.
The Pine is the town promenade, and it carries straight on into the promenade at Porto Montenegro, so first say which side of that join you were on. Name the café terrace or building behind you, send a picture looking out from where the keys went in, and say whether they were on a metal ring or a fob.
Does Ring Seekers cover Bigova, or only the bigger towns around the bay?
Bigova is covered, the beach as well as the village. The village sits deep in its cove, and its stone houses line the shore. Tell us where you last had the watch or ring, on the beach, by the houses along the shore or on the old jetty, and send a pin.
