Lost a ring at a summer house in Denmark?

The lagoon at Amager Strandpark, the pier at Bellevue, summer houses behind Tisvildeleje and Hornbæk, Marielyst on Falster, and two seas meeting at Grenen.

A ring or watch missing in Denmark is worth a message before you give it up. What decides a search is how exactly you can say where it went: by the pier at Bellevue, off a bathing bridge at Almindsø, or on the path from a summer house down to the sand at Tisvildeleje.

Ring Seekers is a lost ring and jewellery recovery service that works with experienced local metal detectorists to search for a ring, wedding band, watch, keys or phone lost in Denmark. Tell us what happened and where. We choose an experienced detectorist who knows the beach, lake or garden, brief them with your map and photos, and tell you honestly if the odds are poor.

The page is meant for people who live in Denmark as much as for visitors, so it takes in city beaches, summer house coasts and a lake as well as the famous spots.

City beaches, summer house coasts and a clear lake

Copenhagen has sand close at hand: Amager Strandpark lies 5 km from the centre and is reached by metro, and Bellevue at Klampenborg is a short walk from the station. Along North Zealand's coast, Hornbæk, Gilleleje and Tisvildeleje gained many summer homes once the railway arrived.

Farther afield, Marielyst on Falster has shallow, calm water, while around Skagen, Højen faces the sometimes harsh North Sea and the Kattegat and Skagerrak meet at Grenen. Inland, people swim from bathing bridges at Almindsø near Silkeborg.

Our end of things

Same person throughout

You deal with one person for the whole case: the one who replies to you also briefs the detectorist and reports back afterwards. No call centre, no forms.

A brief built from what you send

Everything you send, pins, photos and the story of the day, is read by the detectorist first. For a summer house that means the garden and the path as well as the beach.

Honest about the hard ones

Something lost in deep water off a bathing bridge, or on the sand at Grenen, which is always moving, is a hard case. We tell you so at the outset.

Pin, photo, place

The beach or lake, the summer house if it matters, a map pin and a photo of the item. That is enough to begin.

Costs up front

We explain the costs before any search is booked, in writing, so you can think it over.

Our Ring Finder Service Locations in Denmark

From Copenhagen's beaches to the tip at Grenen

Denmark has no area pages of its own on this site, so every beach and lake we cover is here: Copenhagen, the North Zealand summer house coast, Falster, Skagen and one lake in Jutland.

Beaches, summer house coasts and a lake

Amager Strandpark, Copenhagen

Amager Strandpark has 4.6 km of beaches that form a lagoon, with areas for toddlers on one side and a big sandy beach with dunes on the other. The southern part has a broad promenade and space for ball games and picnics. In summer the small lagoon is busy with kayaks and windsurfers, so say which side you were on and whether you were in the water.

Bellevue, Klampenborg

Bellevue is a sandy beach in Klampenborg, 700 m long, with blue-striped lifeguard towers at the end of the pier and room for beach volleyball and water sports. The towers and the pier give you two fixed points to measure from.

Tisvildeleje, Hornbæk and Gilleleje

The first plots zoned for holiday homes in Denmark were at Hornbæk, and once the Gribskovbanen railway opened, people built many summer homes along this coast, at Gilleleje and Tisvildeleje among others. Tisvildeleje has a family-friendly sandy beach with clear water and small bathhouses. If you are renting a summer house, the garden and the path to the beach count as much as the sand.

Marielyst, Falster

Marielyst's white sandy beach runs beside wild dunes, and the water is shallow and calm enough for small children to splash at the edge. A pier is set up on the beach in summer, and a dike along the dunes carries walkers and cyclists, with benches to stop at. SUP, kite and windsurfing lessons are on offer nearby.

Skagen, Sønderstrand and Højen

Sønderstrand is a sandy family beach close to the town, with the bascule light as its landmark. Højen, at Gl. Skagen, is a popular bathing beach in summer, open to the sometimes harsh North Sea, and a place people go to watch the sun set over the water.

Grenen

At Grenen the Kattegat and the Skagerrak meet, and people roll up their trousers to stand with one leg in each sea. The currents and wind keep the tip on the move, and the large beach area beyond the dunes changes its appearance, so pins and photos matter more here than landmarks.

Almindsø, near Silkeborg

At Østre Søbad on Almindsø there are two round bathing bridges side by side and a sandy beach. The inner bridge is only about one metre deep at the centre, while the water off the outer one, used for diving and swimming, is about 4.5 m deep. Vestre Søbad nearby has two bathing bridges of its own.

How a Danish search is set up

Four stages, one WhatsApp conversation.

1

Start with a message

Tell us on WhatsApp what is missing, the beach, lake or house, and when you last had it.

2

Send the map and photos

Pin where you were, and pin the summer house too if it may have gone there. Add photos of the spot and the item.

3

Matching a detectorist

We find a metal detectorist who can reach the place and give them your pins, photos and account.

4

The search and what came of it

The search takes place on a day that suits you, and you get a plain account of how it went.

Questions about Denmark

My wedding band came off while windsurfing in the lagoon at Amager Strandpark. Can it be found?

It is worth a look, but narrow it down first. The beaches there form a lagoon, and the small lagoon is where kayaking and windsurfing happen in summer. Pin where you launched and where you fell in if you did, and say which side of the park you started from, the side for toddlers or the big sandy beach with dunes.

The pier is a useful marker. The blue-striped lifeguard towers stand at its end, and the whole beach is 700 m, so a distance from the pier and a pin on your towel cut the ground down a lot. Send a photo of the key ring as well.

With the places you stopped. Tisvildeleje's beach is sandy with clear water and small bathhouses, so pin where you sat, the house, and the route you walked. If the ring could have come off in the garden, say so, because that changes where a detectorist starts.

How far along the pier you were and on which side. The pier is set up on the beach in summer and the water there is shallow and calm. Send a pin on the pier and a photo of the bracelet.

Possibly, if it fell on the sand. The tip at Grenen moves with the currents and wind, so pin exactly where you stood and send any photos you took there. If it dropped into the moving water off the tip, that is a long shot, and you would hear that from us first.

About 4.5 m off the outer bridge, against about one metre at the centre of the inner one. Say which bridge you used, which side you dived from, and pin it, so a searcher starts in the right patch of water.

The bascule light. Sønderstrand is a sandy family beach close to the town with the bascule light as its landmark, so say roughly how far you were from it and in which direction, and pin your towel.
