Most beaches on the Costa Dorada are fine sand sloping gently into a sea with almost no tide, so a ring lost here can often still be found. What decides it is how closely you can place the spot and how soon someone looks.

How a search works from Calafell to the Ebro Delta
Before you walk away, fix the place. Drop a pin on your phone and take photos towards the promenade and towards the sea, so that a lifeguard chair, a shower or a beach bar is in the frame. Write down the time and whether the item fell on dry sand, at the water's edge or in the sea. Send us the pin and a picture of the item on WhatsApp. A search can go ahead after you have flown home.
We find a detectorist who can reach your town and brief them with your map and photos, so the search starts on the right patch of sand. Reus is inland, so a loss there is a hotel, garden or street matter.

Salou, Llevant, Ponent and Capellans
Salou's tourist board lists nine main beaches and coves with services. Llevant is the largest. Ponent is 1,115 metres of fine golden sand with shallow water, and Capellans is a small urban beach with a gentle slope and a pine grove. Rings come off with sun cream and in the water, and phones and sunglasses go missing around sunbeds.
La Pineda and Cambrils
The Costa Daurada tourist board describes La Pineda, in Vila-seca, as more than three kilometres of fine golden sand that slopes gently into calm water. On a beach that long, a pin and a landmark matter more than anything else. Cambrils town hall counts 9 kilometres of coast with beaches, and describes them as fine golden sand with gentle slopes into calm water. For 2026 the town hall lists Blue Flags at l'Esquirol, Regueral, Cavet, Vilafortuny and La Llosa.
Tarragona, Miracle, Arrabassada and Platja Llarga
Miracle is the closest beach to the centre of Tarragona, some 500 metres of sand next to the yacht club, and one of the ways into El Serrallo, the fishing quarter. Arrabassada is 550 metres long and holds a Blue Flag. Platja Llarga is the city's longest at 3,000 by 30 metres of fine sand, with a zone of dunes and wetland behind it, so say whether you were down by the water or back towards the dunes.
Altafulla, Torredembarra, Calafell and Coma-ruga
Altafulla has a kilometre of fine golden sand. Torredembarra has La Paella beach, 800 metres of fine golden sand, and then Els Muntanyans, more than two kilometres of fine golden sand sloping gently into calm water towards Creixell, with dunes and salt marsh behind. Calafell beach is more than 1,100 metres long and Segur de Calafell runs for 1,700 metres. Coma-ruga, in El Vendrell, is more than two kilometres of fine white sand. A spring known for water at a constant 18 to 21 degrees Celsius feeds the Riuet stream, which runs out across the beach.
Miami Platja, L'Ametlla de Mar and the Ebro Delta
Cristall beach in Miami Platja is just over 1,200 metres long, with large-grained golden sand in darker tones. L'Ametlla de Mar's tourist office counts 20 kilometres of coast made up of beaches and coves, some sandy and some rock. Further south, in the Ebro Delta Natural Park, Riumar near Deltebre is 2,600 metres of fine golden sand, 150 metres wide, backed by dunes and with lifeguards in summer. El Trabucador is a sand isthmus 6,500 metres long joining the delta to La Banya point, open sea on one side and the shallow Alfacs bay on the other, where beginners windsurf and kitesurf. Only its first two kilometres can be driven.

Fine sand and gentle slopes, with two exceptions
The tourist boards and town halls describe most beaches from Calafell to Cambrils as fine sand, and many as sloping gently into the sea, so a ring dropped in the shallows tends to stay within wading depth. Cristall beach in Miami Platja is large-grained sand, which is looser, so a heavy ring can sink faster there. L'Ametlla de Mar has rocky coves as well as sand, and rock means a search by eye or a diver.
A sea with almost no tide
The Mediterranean is nearly tideless, so there is no low water to wait for and no tide that uncovers the spot. A well marked position stays useful for days, and a search in the water waits for a calm morning.
Dunes and delta sand
Behind Platja Llarga, Els Muntanyans and Riumar the sand rises into dunes, where it is dry, loose and deeper than at the water's edge, so a ring dropped up there can sink out of sight in a step. On the wide delta beaches, a pin matters more than any description.

I lost my wedding ring on Llevant or Ponent beach in Salou. What can be done?
Pin the spot, photograph it against a fixed landmark, and tell the lifeguards and the Policia Local. Ponent is 1,115 metres of fine golden sand with shallow water, so a ring dropped while paddling tends to stay within wading depth, and with almost no tide the spot does not move. Then send us the pin and a picture of the lost wedding ring. We find a detectorist who can reach Salou, brief them with your map and photos, and tell you honestly if the odds are poor.
I lost a ring, phone or watch inside PortAventura World. What should I do?
Use the park's own lost property route first. PortAventura World asks guests to report a loss before leaving, at Guest Service by the entrance to PortAventura Park, at the hotel reception, or through the online form on its website. Staff note the details and contact you if it turns up.
My Oura ring or watch slipped off in the sea at Cambrils or La Pineda. Any chance?
A fair one, if you can place the spot. A lost Oura ring or a watch gives a clear signal, and both beaches are described as fine sand sloping gently into calm water, so a detectorist can work on foot out to about waist depth. We will ask how far up your body the water came.
I lost an earring or a bracelet on Miracle, Arrabassada or Platja Llarga in Tarragona. Can someone search?
Possibly. Miracle is some 500 metres long and Arrabassada 550 metres, so with a good pin the search area stays small, though a thin earring is a hard target even then. Platja Llarga is 3,000 metres long, so a pin and a landmark matter most there.
I lost a ring at Calafell, Coma-ruga, Torredembarra or Altafulla. Does it matter which beach?
Yes. Calafell, Coma-ruga, Altafulla and Els Muntanyans in Torredembarra are fine sand beaches, which is good ground for a detector. Els Muntanyans runs for more than two kilometres, so tell us how far along from Torredembarra you were.
My phone or sunglasses went into the water off the rocks at L'Ametlla de Mar or Cap de Salou, or from a boat. Should I book a search?
It depends on the depth. Where the water is too deep to wade, it is a job for a diver. A phone is a large target for a diver with a detector if you can point to the exact rock you were standing on. Metal-framed sunglasses show up the same way, and plastic frames are found by eye. If it went over the side of a moving boat and nobody saved the position, our advice is not to book a search.
I lost a ring in Reus, at a hotel, in a garden or in the town centre. Can you help?
Reus is inland, the capital of the Baix Camp, known for a Modernist route of close to 80 catalogued buildings and for the Gaudí Centre. On paved streets a ring is found by eye or handed in, so retrace your steps and ask the hotel and the local police. Grass is where a detector helps, on a hotel lawn or in a private garden.
