Orlando and its lakes
Lost a ring or bracelet in Orlando?
Spring water north and west of the city, lake parks in town, and a great deal of lawn in between.
A bracelet comes off in water without a sound, and around Orlando that water is usually a spring: shallow, clear and still, with no tide to carry anything off. That makes a loss here far more searchable than most people assume when they message us.
Ring Seekers is a lost ring and jewelry recovery service that works with experienced local metal detectorists to search for a ring, wedding band, watch or phone lost in Orlando and its lakes, inland in central Florida.
The search is done by an experienced detectorist who knows the area. Tell us what happened and where. We choose an experienced detectorist who knows the place, brief them with your map and photos, and tell you honestly if the odds are poor. A lost ring is the common one, but a bracelet, an earring, an Oura ring, a watch and a phone all go the same way here.
The first hour, and what to send us
Take a photo from where you stood with something fixed in the frame, such as a bench, a dock or a boardwalk post, and drop a pin on your phone. On a lawn, ask that nobody mows or rakes that patch. In a spring or a lake, note how deep the water was and how far out you went. Ask at the park office too, in case it has been handed in.
Then send the pin, the photos and a picture of what went missing. Say whether it went down on grass, on sand, in water you could stand in or out where you were swimming, because those four are planned very differently.

Where bracelets, rings and jewelry go missing around Orlando
City lakes, clear springs, lake towns and a great deal of lawn.
Lake Eola Park, downtown Orlando
A sidewalk circles the lake for 0.9 miles (about 1.4 km) and swan boats are hired out from Tuesday to Sunday. An earring drops on the grass during an event; a phone or a pair of sunglasses goes over the side of a boat. The first is a good search and the second is much harder, and it is worth knowing which you have.
Central Park and Lake Baldwin Park, Winter Park
Central Park is 11 acres (about 4.5 hectares) of lawn, fountains and oak canopy on Park Avenue. Lake Baldwin Park covers 23.16 acres (about 9.4 hectares) and has a sandy beach where dogs go in and come out again. A bracelet pulled off while drying a wet dog ends up in that sand, which is kind ground for a detector.
Winter Park Chain of Lakes
Canals link Lake Virginia, Lake Osceola and Lake Maitland, and boats launch from Dinky Dock Park. A wedding band that goes into open water out there is the hard end of this page. A loss where a lawn runs down to the shore, or in water shallow enough to stand in, is a very different prospect.
Wekiwa Springs State Park, Apopka
The swimming area is just over half an acre, averages four feet (1.2 metres) deep and stays at 72°F (22°C) all year, with no lifeguards. Rings, bracelets and watches come off while people swim or snorkel here, and because the water is clear, shallow and still, a searcher can work it properly.
Kelly Park and Rock Springs, Apopka
This 380 acre (about 154 hectare) park holds Rock Springs, which stays at 68 to 72°F (20 to 22°C), and the tubing float takes about 25 minutes. Anything lost from a tube could be anywhere along that run, so the stretch you were on is what makes a search possible.
Blue Spring State Park, Orange City
The spring run beside the St. Johns River stays at 72°F (22°C), which is why manatees shelter here through the winter while the river outside is cold. In those months most people are on the boardwalk above the water rather than in it, and that changes where things are dropped.
Waterfront Park, Clermont
West of Orlando, Waterfront Park runs along Lake Minneola between East Avenue and Eighth Street, with Champions Splash Park, a trail on a 30 mile (about 48 km) system, and almost weekly festivals and triathlons. Crowds are where watches come off.
How Ring Seekers helps around Orlando
One person on WhatsApp
You explain the loss once. The same person takes the details, chooses an experienced detectorist who knows the spring, park or garden, and stays your contact.
The searcher starts from your pin, not a guess
Your map and photos are handed over before anyone arrives, so the first sweep covers the right few feet.
Plain about poor odds
A ring dropped from a boat out on Lake Maitland is not detector work, and we say so before anything is arranged.
Still water, moving water and grass
A spring swimming area holds what falls into it, a tubing run carries it along, and a lawn hides it in plain sight. You are told which of the three you have.
The cost reaches you with the answer
Our read on the case and what a search would come to arrive together, and nothing moves until you reply.
What decides a search around Orlando
Inland Florida means fresh water, no tide and ground that does not move.
No tide, fresh water and clear springs
Search for metal detecting Florida and most of what comes up is about beaches. Orlando is inland, so nothing uncovers a lost ring twice a day, and what goes into a lake stays where it lands. The springs hold a steady 68 to 72°F (20 to 22°C), and shallow water close to where you went in is the best case here.
Lawns, gardens and fairways
On grass a ring settles into the thatch or the top inch of soil, well inside the depth any detector reaches, and a small hole cut with a hand tool and pressed back leaves little trace. The enemy is the mower, not the weather.
Alligators at the lake edge
Alligators are most active between dusk and dawn, which is one reason work at a lake edge here is daylight work, planned rather than improvised. Spring swimming areas and sandy park beaches are the straightforward water.
Still water holds, moving water does not
The swimming area at Wekiwa Springs is just over half an acre and averages four feet (1.2 metres) deep, so what falls in stays near where you stood. The tubing run at Rock Springs is the opposite: about 25 minutes of moving water, and a ring travels with it before it settles.

If it happened in a spring, at a lake or on the grass
My bracelet came off swimming at Wekiwa Springs. Can it be found?
This is about as good as a water case gets. The swimming area is just over half an acre and averages four feet (1.2 metres) deep, so a searcher can stand up in most of it, and spring water stays clear instead of clouding. There are no lifeguards, so pick a fixed thing on the bank and tell us how far out from it you were.
My phone went over the side of a swan boat on Lake Eola. Is it worth trying?
It is a long shot, and you would hear that from us first. The sidewalk circles the lake for 0.9 miles (about 1.4 km), and the boats go out across the middle, which is where a detector cannot follow. Ask first where you hired the boat, then send us roughly where you were on the water and we will say honestly what is left to try.
My Oura ring came off while tubing at Rock Springs. Where would you look?
The stretch you were on is the whole question. The float at Kelly Park takes about 25 minutes, and a ring that slips off part way down could be anywhere along it, so the bend or the landmark you remember passing turns a long run into a short one. The water holds 68 to 72°F (20 to 22°C), cold enough to shrink fingers on the way in.
I lost my engagement ring at a park in Lake Mary or Winter Park. What now?
Name the park and the spot inside it. Lake Mary has Central Park at City Hall and Liberty Park on East Crystal Lake; Winter Park has Central Park, Lake Baldwin Park and Dinky Dock Park. Central Park on Park Avenue is 11 acres (about 4.5 hectares) of lawn, fountains and oak canopy, and on mown grass a ring drops into the thatch and stays. Keep the mower off it.
It came off on the sand at Lake Baldwin Park while I dried the dog. Is that searchable?
Yes, and it is one of the easier ones. Lake Baldwin Park covers 23.16 acres (about 9.4 hectares) and has a sandy beach, and loose sand gives up a signal far more readily than turf. A bracelet pulled off over a wet dog lands within a few feet of where you knelt, so photograph that spot and pace out how far it was from the water.
I dropped a ring at Blue Spring State Park in winter. Does the cold water change anything?
The water does not: the spring run beside the St. Johns River holds 72°F (22°C) all year, which is why the manatees come in when the river turns cold. What changes is where people stand in winter, mostly the boardwalk rather than the water. Tell us whether it went down on the boardwalk, on the bank or into the run.
My ring came off on a fairway or in my back garden near Orlando. Worth a search?
Usually the best case of the lot. Grass holds a ring in the top inch or two, where the eye goes past it and a detector does not, and a hole cut with a hand tool and pressed back leaves almost no mark. Keep the mower and the rake off that patch. People do look up metal detector rental Orlando at this stage, and on your own lawn that is fair enough.
