Estonia
Lost a ring in Estonia?
A shallow sea at Pärnu, 7.5 km of fine sand at Narva-Jõesuu, and city beaches and a lake beach in Tallinn.
The sea at Pärnu is shallow, so a ring that came off while you were wading may still be within reach. What shapes the search is the point on the beach where you walked in, and the distance you had waded when it went.
Ring Seekers is a lost ring and jewellery recovery service that works with experienced local metal detectorists to search for a ring, wedding band, watch, keys or phone lost in Estonia. Tell us what happened and where. We choose an experienced detectorist who knows the beach or the lake, brief them with your map and photos, and tell you honestly if the odds are poor.
Pirita and the other Tallinn beaches, Narva-Jõesuu, Haapsalu and lakes from Harku to Peipus are all covered on this page.
Gulf beaches, a summer capital and lakes of every size
Estonia has over 3,700 km of Baltic coastline. Pärnu, the summer capital, has a kilometre-long sandy beach right in town, and at Narva-Jõesuu the beach runs for 7.5 km on the south shore of the Gulf of Finland, fine sand lined with pine forest. Tallinn has several city beaches, from Pirita, the biggest, to Stroomi in the north of the city and Kakumäe beside its own bay. Haapsalu has several beaches around the town.
Inland there are lakes of all sizes. Harku is Tallinn's only lakeside beach, Lake Viljandi and Pühajärve in Otepää both have sandy beaches, and on the northern shore of Lake Peipus the beach at Kauksi runs for several kilometres.
Before anyone picks up a detector
Talking to one person
One person handles your case from your first message on. The questions, the brief for the detectorist and the report afterwards all arrive in the same chat.
The brief is your own evidence
What the detectorist works from is what you sent: the pin, the photos and your description of the day. Nobody is left guessing about a beach they were never told about.
Plain words on the odds
A phone dropped from a canoe in the middle of Pühajärve is a long shot, and you would hear that from us first.
The cost, set out in advance
We explain the costs before any search is booked. Nobody will hurry you into deciding.

Beaches from Narva-Jõesuu to Haapsalu, and the lakes in between
Pärnu and the Tallinn beaches come first, then the long sand at Narva-Jõesuu and Haapsalu, then the lakes.
Sea beaches and lake shores
Pärnu Beach
A short walk from the centre, Pärnu Beach has white sand and a shallow sea that warms quickly in the sun. It has playgrounds, an outdoor gym, beach volleyball and tennis courts and mini golf, and a jetty people walk out along for the sunset. Beach Park and Supeluse Street lead straight down to the sand, and the promenade has cafés and bars.
Pirita, Tallinn
Pirita is Tallinn's biggest beach, in the suburb of the same name and reached by bus from the city centre. It has changing cabins, playgrounds and areas for ball games, loungers for hire and a beach bar in summer, so there is plenty to pin your spot against.
Stroomi and Kakumäe, Tallinn
Stroomi is a sandy, child-friendly beach in northern Tallinn with a playground, trampolines, ball game areas and an open-air gym, and it is a popular place for barbecues and picnics. Kakumäe, beside the bay of the same name in Haabersti, is sandy and usually not too choppy, with relatively shallow water, ball courts and free car and bicycle parks.
Harku Lake, Tallinn
Harku is the only lakeside beach in Tallinn and one of the first places in the capital where the water is warm enough to swim in spring. There are changing cabins, a shower, playgrounds and areas for ball games, and people fish from the lake too.
Narva-Jõesuu
Estonia's longest beach runs for 7.5 km on the south shore of the Gulf of Finland, covered with fine sand and lined with pine forest. There is a beach volleyball court, a playground, cabins and showers. On a beach this long, the path you took through the trees to reach the sand is the detail we need first.
Haapsalu and Paralepa
Haapsalu has several beaches for swimming around the town. Paralepa is a sandy beach with some of the warmest water in Estonia, and it has cabanas, a children's playground and a volleyball court.
Lake Viljandi and Pühajärve
Lake Viljandi has a sandy beach and crystal-clear water, with ball fields, beach volleyball and rowing boats for hire. At Pühajärve in Otepää the beach has clean sand and a swimming pier, with SUP boards, rowing boats, canoes and pedal boats for hire, and Pühajärve Park and its shady paths all around it.
Kauksi and Lake Peipus
On the northern shore of Lake Peipus, Kauksi is a beach of singing sands several kilometres long, reached by a stairway over the dunes. There is volleyball, swings for children and a campsite with places for barbecues nearby. Tell us which stairway you came down; it fixes your place on the long shore.

How a search in Estonia comes together
You can stop after any step.
First message
On WhatsApp, tell us what went missing, at which beach, lake or park, and about when.
Location and pictures
Share a pin for the place and some photos of it, and one of the item itself, or of it being worn.
Finding the right person
If you want to go ahead, we track down a metal detectorist able to get to that spot and forward your pins and photos.
Results, plainly
Once the search is done, you are told what ground it covered and what was found.
Questions about Estonia
I was wading out at Pärnu Beach when my ring came off.
The sea is shallow there, so the distance you waded counts for as much as your starting point. Pin the place you entered the water and your towel, then give the depth where you turned back. If you walked on the jetty that day, add it.
Our car keys are somewhere on Pirita beach, between the ball game area and the way back to the bus.
Pirita is Tallinn's biggest beach, so tell us which section you used: near the changing cabins, the playgrounds or the ball game areas. Mark where you sat, where you played, and the route you walked off the beach.
Narva-Jõesuu's beach is 7.5 km long. Where would a search even start?
Start with how you reached the sand: the street or path through the pine forest you came down, and anything you could see behind you. The volleyball court and the playground are useful markers, and a photo from your spot does more than any description.
My son's watch came off at Kakumäe while he was playing in the water.
Kakumäe is sandy and usually not too choppy, and the water is relatively shallow. Pin where he was playing and where you were sitting, and tell us whether he was on the ball courts before or after his swim.
An earring fell out during a swim at Harku Lake.
Harku's beach has changing cabins, a shower and playgrounds, so it is easy to describe where you were. Pin your entry point and the place you dried off, and say whether you swam along the shore or out into the lake.
My phone fell out of a rowing boat on Lake Viljandi.
Tell us where you took the boat out and roughly where you were on the lake when it happened. A photo you took from the boat, with the shore in it, helps fix that point. If it could also have gone on the beach or the ball fields, mark those as well.
Our Oura ring is somewhere on the beach at Kauksi.
Kauksi's beach is several kilometres long and reached by a stairway over the dunes, so the stairway you used and the distance you walked from it are the key details. Add where you lay and whether you swam in Peipus.
I lost a bracelet somewhere around the swimming pier at Pühajärve.
The pier gives the search a fixed starting line. Tell us whether you swam off it or only walked it, and at what point along it, then mark where you lay on the beach and any path you walked in Pühajärve Park afterwards.
