Lost a ring or keys in Montenegro?

From the town beach in Bar and the sand at Sutomore to the parks of Podgorica and a summer concert in Žabljak.

Keys dropped on a Montenegrin beach or in a city park can still be looked for. Most of the answer lies in the last hour you remember having them: where you sat, which way you walked home, and whether you went into the sea.

Ring Seekers is a lost ring and jewellery recovery service that works with experienced local metal detectorists to search for a ring, wedding band, watch, keys or phone lost in Montenegro.

Tell us what happened and where. We choose an experienced detectorist who knows the place, brief them with your map and photos, and tell you honestly if the odds are poor.

Montenegro lost ring and jewellery recovery

Sand, gravel or rock by the sea, and a shallow river in the capital

Depending on which Montenegrin beach you chose, there was sand, gravel or rock under your feet. Some are city beaches or beaches kept by a hotel, while others sit in coves you reach only by boat or along a path through the woods.

On the road from Bar towards Ulcinj, the beach at Dobra Voda faces the open sea and the waves come in often. Inland, the Morača runs through Podgorica. It is mostly shallow, and a swim in it is a special pleasure for the people who live there.

Who does what once you write

Remembered something later?

Send it to the same WhatsApp chat. The person who took your first message is the one briefing the detectorist, so a detail that comes back to you the next morning still reaches the search.

A brief with a map in it

We put your pins on one map, from where you sat to where you noticed the loss, and send it to the detectorist together with your photos.

Out of your depth, said early

If the item went into water well beyond where you could stand, or somewhere you cannot place at all, it is a long shot, and you would hear that from us first.

Before you write

Have the town ready, the beach, park or square, a map pin and a photo of the item. If the item is gone, a picture of the matching earring or the spare key does the same job.

Spelled out before you agree

We explain the costs before any search is booked, and nobody expects an answer in the same conversation.

Our Ring Finder Service Locations in Montenegro

Beach, riverbank or town square

The first three cards only point the way: Budva, the Bay of Kotor and Ulcinj are written up in full on pages of their own. The Bar coast, Skadar Lake, the capital and the two mountain towns are described here.

From Herceg Novi down to Utjeha, and up into the mountains

Budva Riviera

Jaz, Budva's town beaches, Bečići, Kamenovo, Pržno, Sveti Stefan, Petrovac and Buljarica. Open the Budva Riviera page for the beach you were on.

Bay of Kotor

Kotor, Tivat, Perast, Herceg Novi with Igalo, the Luštica peninsula, Bigova and the Tivat salt pans are grouped on the Bay of Kotor page.

Ulcinj, Velika Plaža and Ada Bojana

Ulcinj's town beaches, Valdanos, Velika Plaža, the salt pans and Ada Bojana: the page for all of them carries the three names in its title.

Bar and Topolica

Bar is a new town by the sea, with many promenades near the water. Its large town beach, Topolica, is pebble and stretches from the marina to the Željeznica river, with the King Nikola promenade close by.

Sutomore, Maljevik and Štrbine

Sutomore grew out of a fishing village on a long sandy beach and is now the main place for young people on the Bar coast, with clubs, discos, cafés and restaurants along its riviera. Maljevik, between Čanj and Sutomore, is a pebble beach with very clean water and a lot of life under it, and Štrbine is a small pebble beach near Sutomore, looking out over the open sea.

Čanj

Čanj is a resort in an isolated bay, with hotel complexes and holiday homes behind its beach, the Pearl Coast. Around it, smaller beaches lie hidden in the pine woods, and some are wild.

Dobra Voda and Utjeha

Dobra Voda sits among olive and citrus groves between Bar and Ulcinj. Its spacious beach, Veliki pijesak, has sun from early morning until evening and is mostly pebble, sandy in places. Utjeha is the southernmost bay of the Bar coast, with a dense grove of ancient olive trees behind it, and its beach is known as the Olive Bay.

Skadar Lake

Virpazar is the most visited settlement on the lake, and boats and kayaks are hired there. Murići, on the south-west shore, is the best known beach on Skadar Lake, and at Dodoši people jump into the water from the bridge.

Podgorica

People in the capital swim in the Morača, and some restaurants sit by the water near the city. In the centre are Njegošev, Karađorđev and Kraljev Park, and Podgorica Park lies above the river. Gorica hill, close to the centre, is a pine forest park with paths for walking, running and cycling and an adventure park. On summer evenings Kruševac Park is a place for a night out, and Bokeška Street is lined with clubs, pubs and cafés.

Kolašin and Žabljak

Kolašin is a peaceful mountain town that people visit in summer as well as winter. In Žabljak, in the north-west, concerts are held on summer evenings in the open air on the town square, Trg durmitorskih ratnika. Black Lake, three kilometres south-west of Žabljak, is two lakes joined by a strait, with a path round them and water warm enough for a summer swim.

How a search in Montenegro is put together

None of it needs a phone call or a form.

1

Start with the missing item

One WhatsApp message is enough to start: what is missing, which town, and whether it was a beach, a park or a street.

2

Where it was, and where you missed it

A pin for the last place you are sure you had it and a pin for the place you found it gone say more than a page of writing. Photos from that day can follow.

3

Your messages become the brief

We look for a metal detectorist who can get to that beach, park or square, and brief them from your pins and pictures.

4

Arranged with you, reported to you

Once you say yes, the search goes ahead, and the result comes back to you on WhatsApp, found or not.

Questions about Montenegro

The apartment keys went missing on Sutomore beach after dark. What would help find the spot?

A photo from that evening, even a dark one with lights behind you, can show which part of the beach you were on, and on a beach 1,200 metres long that decides where a search begins. Pin where you sat, say whether you went into the sea, and send a picture of the key ring.

Whichever you were nearer. The pebble beach lies between the marina at one end and the Željeznica river at the other, so saying which was closer to your towel, and whether you swam, narrows the ground a good deal. If you walked along the King Nikola promenade afterwards, say so too.

What matters most is whether it was water you could stand in. Maljevik is a pebble beach between Čanj and Sutomore, with very clean water. Tell us where you went in and where you came out, how deep it was where you were floating, and send a photo of the watch and its strap.

The beach there is mostly pebble with some sand, and it faces the open sea. Pin the spot where you went in, say how far out you were and whether you could still stand, and send a photo of the ring on your hand if you have one.

Mostly in what you can tell us about the bank. The Morača is mostly shallow, so where you stood matters as much as where you got in. Pin the place on the bank, and say whether you were standing or swimming when the phone went and how far out you were.

Not on its own, because it covers two places: Kruševac Park, where people go out on summer evenings, and the Kruševac Children's Park. Tell us which, pin where you stood or sat, and send a photo of the earring you still have.

The concerts are held on Trg durmitorskih ratnika. Say where in the crowd you stood and whether you walked back to your room through the streets afterwards. A picture from the concert with the stage or a building in it shows us where on the square you were.

Probably several. Beyond the main beach at Čanj, smaller beaches lie hidden in the pine woods, and some are wild. Start from the cove where you last remember the bracelet on your wrist, drop a pin on each of the others, and tell us which ones you swam at.

Name the beach, the park or the square

A pin dropped where you last had it tells a detectorist more than a long description. Send it to us on WhatsApp with a line about what is missing, and we take it from there.
