Świnoujście to Mielno
An earring gone somewhere between the star handprints and the Międzyzdroje pier
Work back from the bronze handprints and the pier, one stop at a time.
Whether an earring lost on an evening walk in Międzyzdroje can be found depends mostly on two things: how many places you stopped, and whether any of those stops were out on the pier over the sea. Fewer stops on firm ground mean a smaller search.

When one ear is suddenly bare
Go through your hair, collar, hood and bag first, and look for the back of the earring as well as the earring itself. Then walk the route again in daylight, checking beside the kerbs and benches and on the way down to the sand.

Świnoujście, the beach and the Promenada Historyczna
The town beach at Świnoujście is very wide, and the Promenada Historyczna runs behind it. On the renovated promenade stands a lit water clock ringed by a curtain of water, and where the renovated stretch ends there are graduation towers fed with brine from the town's spa. Either one makes a clear landmark in a photo.
The pier at Międzyzdroje
Two small towers guard the way onto the pier, couples hang padlocks on its railing, and passenger ships tie up at its landing. The guarded beach divides at the pier into Międzyzdroje Wschód to the east and Międzyzdroje Zachód to the west. On the east side, by the volleyball pitches at entrance B, the view runs along the cliffs to Kawcza Góra and Wzgórze Gosań.
The Wolin cliffs beyond Międzyzdroje
East of the town, Woliński National Park holds the finest stretch of cliff coast in Poland, where steep cliffs drop suddenly to wide, sandy beaches. A black-marked trail climbs from Międzyzdroje over Kawcza Góra, and the coast carries on towards Wisełka. Say which cliff you could see and how far you walked from the town.
Handprints on the Promenada Gwiazd
On the Międzyzdroje promenade, the Aleja Gwiazd sets out bronze handprints and autographs of actors and other artists on a square beside the street called Promenada Gwiazd. It is a natural place to stop for a photo, and that photo can later show exactly where you stood.
Pobierowo and Rewal
Pobierowo, the westernmost place in the Rewal commune, is set among forests, with shops and restaurants along ulica Grunwaldzka. Between Pobierowo and the lighthouse at Niechorze the land rises in cliffs above the shore. Rewal, on that stretch, has a landing where fishermen still work in the village centre.
Grzybowo and Dźwirzyno
West of Kołobrzeg, the villages of Grzybowo and Dźwirzyno share a gently curving shore with wide beaches of pale, fine sand. At Dźwirzyno the beach rises inland into a high bank of pine-covered dunes, and the dunes run on between the two villages. Kołobrzeg's own west beach leads off from the harbour mouth towards Grzybowo.
The Kołobrzeg pier and the east beach
The pier sits at the centre of the spa quarter, a concrete walkway with seats and a café in the rooms at its head. Kołobrzeg Wschód, the guarded east beach, lies around it. The Aleja Nadmorska runs along the park behind, with the beach in view.
The eastern breakwater and the passenger port
The eastern breakwater of the port is open to walkers, who stroll out along it to look over the sea. The passenger port, the base for sea trips, sits right by the lighthouse and the beach, with a market at its edge.
Ustronie Morskie and Mielno
The beach at Ustronie Morskie is wide and runs both ways from the village centre. In Mielno, the Promenada Przyjaźni runs beside the beach, lit along its whole length, with benches and several ways down onto the sand. Over the main beach entrance on ulica Kościuszki, a wooden walkway carries viewing terraces with café tables.

Cliffs, groynes and two piers over the sea
The shore runs from cliffs in the Rewal commune to piers and promenades in the spa towns.
Groynes on the Rewal beaches
In the Rewal commune, rows of wooden piles have been driven into the beach at right angles to the shore so the beach keeps its sand. If you sat near one of these groynes, say so and photograph it, because they make good markers.
The deck or the water below
Both the Międzyzdroje and the Kołobrzeg pier reach beyond the beach into the sea. Something that went over the railing is in the water, a different search from one on the boards, so give us your view on which it was.
Questions about the coast from Świnoujście to Mielno
I pressed my hand into one of the bronze prints on the Promenada Gwiazd and only noticed later that an earring had gone.
The prints are cast in bronze on a square beside the Promenada Gwiazd, and each one carries the artist's autograph. Tell us the name on the print you stopped at, because it is far easier to find again than one paving slab among many. Then add where you went next, the pier or the sand, and tell us what kind of earring it is: a stud on a butterfly back, a hoop or a hook.
We stayed for the sunset at the end of the Kołobrzeg pier, and back on the beach there was no wedding band on my finger.
The walking deck is raised well above the water, and that splits the question in two: the deck itself, or the sea beneath it. Pin the part of the deck where you are sure the band was still on, and say if you rested on a seat or called in at the café at the pier head.
Our son's phone went missing during a football game on the beach in Świnoujście.
The beach at Świnoujście is very wide, so the entrance you came down by is only a starting clue. Put the pin where the game itself was played, and send any photo taken from the pitch towards the Promenada Historyczna, where the water clock or the graduation towers fix the spot. Describe the case as well.
The strap on my watch snapped on the beach gym in Mielno.
The outdoor gym stands on the sand between ulica Słoneczna and ulica Pogodna, which keeps the first area to search small. Go through the machines you used in order, and mention any swim afterwards. A photo of the watch, face and strap together, is useful too.
I rode a hired water scooter on Lake Jamno and lost my Oura ring.
Lake Jamno lies on the landward side of Mielno, away from the sea, so this is a separate stretch of water with its own shore. Ask the hire point too, in case someone handed it in. Then send us where you set off, the rough line you rode and the place you came back to land.
We stopped to watch the fishermen in Rewal and later found the car keys were missing.
Rewal is one of the few places where fishermen still work in the middle of the village, so the ground around their landing comes first. Pin where you stood, then your route down from the street and anywhere you sat afterwards. Along this stretch the land ends in cliffs, and where the shore is steep the beach is narrower, which keeps a search tight.

Pobierowo sits among forests, with gravel paths and quiet lanes between the trees. Trace the walk from your room to the beach on a map, including any turn off ulica Grunwaldzka, where the shops and restaurants are. Then pin where you lay on the beach.

The beach at Ustronie Morskie is wide, so where you lay matters more than anything else. Mark the spot your towel was on, take a photo looking inland from it, and include an image of the frames.
