Saint Vincent and the Grenadines

Lost a ring in St Vincent and the Grenadines?

Volcanic black sand on St Vincent, then white sand beaches and anchorages south through the Grenadines.

Finding an Oura ring or wedding band lost in St Vincent and the Grenadines starts with tracing the day back to the bay where it happened. After that, the odds depend mostly on whether it came off ashore or over the side of a boat.

Ring Seekers is a lost ring and jewelry recovery service that works with experienced local metal detectorists to search for a ring, wedding band, watch, keys or phone lost in St Vincent and the Grenadines. Tell us what happened and where. We choose an experienced detectorist who knows the beach, brief them with your map and photos, and tell you honestly if the odds are poor.

Calm water on St Vincent's sheltered side, reefs off the southern Grenadines

St Vincent has volcanic black sand beaches, and the Grenadines have powdery shorelines. The main island's protected leeward shore has consistently calm, clear water.

Farther south, the windward sides of Mayreau, Union Island and the Tobago Cays have extensive coral reef complexes around them, and Mayreau's windward coast has long white sand beaches behind offshore reefs. On Bequia, Port Elizabeth sits on Admiralty Bay, a large natural anchorage sheltered from the prevailing winds.

How we work across the islands

Your case never changes hands

You deal with one person from the first WhatsApp message to the final report.

Your pictures do the explaining

Your map pin and photos of the bay go straight to the detectorist.

Harbors and reefs, honestly

A loss in a busy harbor or out on a reef is harder to search than one on the sand, and we tell you so in plain words.

Tell us about the boat too

If a boat was part of the day, we ask where it anchored and where you went ashore, as well as which beach you were on.

Before anything is booked

We explain the costs before any search is booked.

Sand on St Vincent and the islands south of it

The cards run from St Vincent south through the Grenadines to Union Island and Palm Island.

Down the chain from St Vincent

Villa Beach and Indian Bay, St Vincent

Villa Beach and Indian Bay, on St Vincent's south coast, are good for swimming and snorkeling. Both are about 20 to 25 feet wide, so pin where your towels were and where you went into the water.

Young Island and Blue Lagoon, St Vincent

Young Island, just off the south coast, is taken up by a private resort, and its beach, about 200 yards from the Villa dock, can be reached only by sea. Blue Lagoon, the last beach along the southeast coast, is surrounded by palm trees and used for swimming, diving and snorkeling. If something went on the boat ride across, say so.

Port Elizabeth and Princess Margaret Beach, Bequia

Ferries come in at the main dock in the center of Port Elizabeth, Bequia's main town. The Belmont Walkway runs from there along the southern side of Admiralty Bay, past restaurants and dive shops at the water's edge. Just beyond it is Princess Margaret Beach, also called Tony Gibbons Beach, often calm, with an area for snorkeling.

Lower Bay, Bequia

Lower Bay lies within the protection of Admiralty Bay, and its long stretch of sand is excellent for swimming, so say which part of the beach your towels were on.

Friendship Bay and Industry Bay, Bequia

Friendship Bay is a sheltered, south-facing bay on Bequia's windward side, with a broad golden sweep of sand and a hotel right on the beach. At the western end, below the village of La Pompe, fishing boats are drawn up on the sand. Industry Bay, on the northeast side, is protected from the Atlantic waves by reefs, and people swim and snorkel there.

Britannia Bay and the Mustique coast

Britannia Bay, on the leeward coast, is a natural anchorage with the wharf and jetty, and Lovell Village at its northern end. Mustique is lapped by both the Atlantic and the Caribbean, and Pasture Bay is wild and windswept. A ring dropped off a tender at the jetty is a different search from one lost on the beach.

Canouan

Charlestown Bay, also called Grand Bay, lies just off Charlestown, the main settlement, and visiting sailboats use it. Windward Bay on the east coast has calm water protected by the barrier reef, a great place for swimming. Friendship Bay on the south coast has a sweeping stretch of white sand and a resort hotel, and South Glossy Bay looks out over the Southern Grenadines. Bequia has a Friendship Bay too, so name the island.

Mayreau, Salt Whistle Bay and the Tobago Cays

Salt Whistle Bay is at the north end of Mayreau, and the ferry between St Vincent and Union Island puts in at the jetty in Saline Bay, in the south. East of Mayreau, Horseshoe Reef encloses the Tobago Cays except Petit Tabac, an isolated beach just outside it. Yachts anchor in the center of the main lagoon and at the northwest edge of Petit Tabac.

Union Island and Palm Island

Clifton, the busier of Union Island's main villages, has the ferry wharf, with the airport close by. Chatham Bay fills almost the whole west coast, and Ashton Harbour on the south coast is a sheltered, shallow lagoon behind Frigate Island and an offshore reef. Palm Island, a short distance southeast of Union, is occupied by a resort, and day boats usually land at the southern end of its west coast beach, where a bar is open to visitors.

From WhatsApp to the beach in St Vincent and the Grenadines

You can start it from anywhere with a phone signal.

1

The item and the day

Message us what it is and when you last knew you had it.

2

Your map pin

Pin the beach or anchorage where it happened. A picture of the item shows the detectorist what to look for, and one of the place helps them find it.

3

The detectorist, and how they get there

We look for a detectorist who can get to that beach, by road on St Vincent or by boat in the Grenadines, then pass them your pin and pictures.

4

A plain account afterward

When the detectorist has finished, you hear honestly how the search went.

Questions about Saint Vincent and the Grenadines

Our wedding band went somewhere in the Tobago Cays lagoon while we were snorkeling. Is it worth a message?

It is. The lagoon has a sand bottom, and snorkelers use the inshore side of Horseshoe Reef. Say whether you were in the open lagoon or along the reef, and pin where your boat lay, since you went in and came out there.

The reef right by the shore gives shallow, calm water at Lower Bay, so where you stood matters most. Pin it, and get the fishing village at the south end of the bay into one photo so the detectorist can line it up.

Either is possible. The trail continues the Belmont Walkway all the way from Port Elizabeth to the beach, so trace your route on the map, pin where you sat, and say when you last saw it on your wrist.

Yes. The two beaches are separated only by a small hilly projection and are easy to get between. Pin where you went into the water at each, and say which beach came first.

Macaroni is a sweeping crescent of powder white sand on the east coast, lined with palm trees, and picnic areas there can be booked. If you had one, tell us which, and whether the necklace was still on when you swam.

Clifton Harbour is a busy bay of yachts, fishing boats, the ferry and water taxis, and sunglasses that sank beside a jetty there are a long shot, and you would hear that from us first. Name the jetty and roughly what time it happened.

Salt Whistle Bay is naturally sheltered, with a white sand beach and exceptionally calm water for swimming, and yachts often anchor there. Mark where you landed and where you swam, and give the boat's position.
